Enjoy a cracking time at Birdland’s new hatchery

Visitors are in for a real treat as Birdland unveils its new Hatchery. With quail, chicken and duck eggs all ready to hatch, as well as some rare and endangered eggs brought in from the park, the nursery is the perfect place to see the babies as they emerge in time for Spring.

The Hatchery continues the egg story of the Discovery Zone allowing families to see the baby chicks and hatching eggs up close. The Discovery Zone is full of lots of information, the chance to watch the eggs hatching live and the baby chicks as they grow up. There will also be interactive sessions with Birdland’s keepers offering families the chance to ask questions and find out more.

The Discovery Zone is Birdland’s indoor interactive area where you can learn about, and come face to face with, animals that lay eggs. From fish to amphibians, reptiles to mammals, there are lots of egg-laying critters to see. Interactive sessions with the expert keepers are also held so that you can enjoy close encounters with a variety of creatures including lizards and snakes. The Discovery Zone is perfect for all the family.

Due to hatch anytime now are the quail eggs, in fact there are already some tiny babies pootling about in the incubators keeping toasty until they are big enough to leave the nest.
Outside in the park families can see the new arrivals, the tortoises and the emus as well as watch the penguin and pelican feedings twice daily.
