Apples at the core of family event

Apple Day at GloucesterFolk Museum

Gloucester Folk Museum will host its eighteenth annual Apple Day celebrations on Saturday 25th October 11am – 4pm.

Each year for one day only the folk museum on Westgate Street Gloucester open up their traditional cider mill to members of the public, as part of the apple day event.

In the museum’s own cider house visitors will also have the chance to see Fergus the horse driving a traditional cider mill, as well crushing apples to make local cider.

And, it’s not just Fergus who is put to work. Children visiting the event will be shown the age-old art of apple crushing so that they can make their very own juices.

Paul James, leader of Gloucester City Council and cabinet member for regeneration at Gloucester City Council, said: “The annual Apple Day event is always very popular and with more than 40 rare apples there’s something for everyone.
"I would encourage everyone to come along to this fun-filled family-friendly historic event.”

The activities are free of charge, with guests invited to make a donation of their choice on the way out.
