Step into spring with Westonbirt Arboretum

Easter at Westonbirt Arboretum

The Forestry Commission’s National Arboretum at Westonbirt has a fantastic line-up of events for all ages and interests to explore, enjoy and learn about the spring season.

With the days becoming longer and lighter, a visit to The National Arboretum is the perfect opportunity to uncover the wonders of nature and there is plenty on offer to keep everyone interested.

For a fun family day out, Westonbirt’s Easter Challenge (30 March-3 April, 7-9 Apr) is the perfect chance to discover awakening trees, solve the Easter riddle and enjoy a well-deserved chocolate reward!

Bursting Blooms from 26-28 May gives visitors the opportunity to learn all about how flowers attract their pollinators and disperse their seeds, as well as taking in the beauty of Westonbirt’s spring blooms!

A programme of Guided Walks is also on offer. Led by knowledgeable volunteer guides, the walks give visitors the chance to take in the spring season and learn a little more about Westonbirt’s history and tree collection. Guided Walks take place on Saturdays and Sundays at 11am and 2pm and Wednesdays at 11am.

Visitors can also take advantage of the Forestry Commission’s Westonbirt Wednesdays offer, which offers half price admission on Wednesdays during March, April and May. Adult entry on Westonbirt Wednesdays is £4.50, concession £3 and children £1.50.

Paul Cody, the Forestry Commission’s Head of Visitor Attraction at Westonbirt commented:

“Spring really is a stunning season at Westonbirt. Comparable with autumn in colour, there are so many beautiful trees and shrubs in full bloom and the scents are quite something!

“We are thrilled to be able to showcase this season through such a great programme of events, allowing visitors the chance to really immerse themselves in nature at this time of year.”

For budding photographers and those looking to capture spring at its best, Beginner and Advanced Photography Courses are available in April (13 and 17 April respectively).

Visitors can also try their hand at a new skill on a Chair Making Course (4 and 11 May) and make a Windsor chair using traditional tools and techniques in a tranquil location in the heart of Westonbirt’s ancient Silk Wood.
