Tickets go on sale 6 July for tremendous Treefest!
The Glastonbury of the natural world is returning for 2015 – Treefest is back with a bang and has a jam-packed line-up for the whole family to enjoy during the August Bank Holiday weekend (29-31 August) – and kids go free!
Hosted for the 21st consecutive year by The Forestry Commission’s National Arboretum at Westonbirt, Treefest is arguably set in one of the most picturesque festival venues in the UK. The popular three-day bash celebrates nature, trees and woodcraft, and boasts an exciting programme of fun family activities for big kids and little kids alike.
Against the beautiful backdrop of Westonbirt’s leafy landscape, visitors to this signature event will discover a vibrant festival atmosphere, set to a soundtrack of the region’s finest acoustic, soul, country and folk music.
With over 100 exhibitors, Treefest visitors can browse a host of nature-themed goodies from exhibitors selling crafts, art, gifts and jewellery, to accessories for the home and garden.
Foodies are also in for a treat, as Westonbirt has partnered with Love Food Festival for a second year to showcase local culinary delights from the South West’s best independent food producers. Festival goers can feast on gourmet burgers, hog roast and traditional cream teas, washed down with locally-produced wines and beers.
For the more adventurous visitor, there’s den building, tree climbing and zip wire activities to really get the adrenaline pumping. There will also be exciting arena shows throughout the weekend, including falconry, to entertain the crowds.
The talented wood carvers also make their return to this woodland extravaganza and will amaze the crowds with their larger than life tree carving displays – this popular element of Treefest is not to be missed!
Visitors can experience the journey of wood from sawmill to axe on guided walks with knowledgeable volunteers, starting at 11am and 2pm daily.
There are plenty of activities for younger visitors too, with story-telling, puppet theatre and crafts to name a few.
Simon Hough, Recreation Manager at the National Arboretum, said:
“Treefest is back and we’re planning to make it another highlight event for families during the summer holidays. Last year thousands of people of all ages joined us over the three days, and we’re expecting just as many to come and celebrate the world of trees with us this year.
“We’ve got a packed programme that promises to keep the whole family entertained. It’s a glorious setting and kids go free, which makes it fantastic value and a great family day out!”
Enjoy an early bird discount by buying tickets online before 28 August and receive a third off the ticket price: Adult £10, Student £8 and Friends of Westonbirt Arboretum £5. Children under the age of 18 go free of charge.
On the gate tickets: Adult £15, Student £12, Friends of Westonbirt Arboretum £7.50, under 18s go free.
Treefest takes place between 29-31 August, between 10am and 5pm, with live music continuing into the early evening.
