Mediaeval Baebes’ Sacred Spaces Tour at Gloucester Cathedral

Mediaeval Baebes’ Sacred Spaces Tour at Gloucester Cathedral

Tickets Released for the Mediaeval Baebes’ Sacred Spaces Tour at Gloucester Cathedral 7th December 2015

With the year drawing to an end and just two months until Christmas is upon us, the much awaited Mediaeval Baebes Sacred Spaces Concert taking place in Gloucester Cathedral.
Traditionally  a time for reflection and celebration, what better way to glorify the season than to join the Mediaeval Baebes for a remarkable evening of music, dance and theatre in one of the UK's most magnificent Sacred Spaces.

Performing Christmas carol classics from their top ten album Of Kings & Angels as well as other contemporary and traditional songs, the Mediaeval Baebes will escort you through a musical journey inspired by a time where poetry and music conspired to invoke sensory pleasure.

The Sacred Spaces 2015 tour will no doubt further cement the reputation of this septet by emerging the audience in a remarkable soundscape that can only be produced by this internationally renowned choral group.  Enchanting audiences with their unique take on early music, traditional culture and the magic of folklore, the Mediaeval Baebes’ legacy far outreaches that of many other ensembles that tread the fine line between classical and contemporary music.

Harness the true spirit of Christmas and emerge your senses into a timeless treat of unique musical beauty. Tickets are now available from  www.mediaevalbaebes.com , the Tourist Information Centre and SEE tickets at a cost of £20 each.

About the Mediaeval Baebes
The Mediaeval Baebes exquisite storybook opened its pages in 1996, when a group of friends broke into a North London cemetery and sang together, clad in flowing white gowns and crowns of ivy.

Pulling lyrics from mediaeval texts and setting them to original scores using mediaeval and classical instruments, whilst singing in an impressive array of long forgotten languages, the Mediaeval Baebes offer a unique musical beauty and outstanding talent. Their choice of mediaeval texts are dramatic, obscure and dark in topic and remark upon the inevitability of death, the pointlessness of material possessions, the horror of unrequited love and the dangers of imbibing too much alcohol.  Some themes are timeless!

Nineteen years later, these fair maidens have placed three albums into the top of the classical charts and in 2007 their contribution to the BBC production of The Virgin Queen resulted in a deserved Ivor Novello Award for best television soundtrack.

The Mediaeval Baebes have performed before enthusiastic audiences in the UK, United States, Canada, Asia and Europe in venues ranging from castles and caves to nightclubs and Renaissance Fayres.  They have toured with Jools Holland and played at The Royal Albert Hall, Carnglaze Caverns in Cornwall, Jersey Opera House, Tewkesbury Abbey, supported Michael Flatley in Hyde Park, and performed at the legendary Lilith Fair in USA.
