Lido opening for longest season!

‘Turning Back Time’ day at Sandford Parks Lido

Sandford Parks Lido in Cheltenham will be opening its gates for the summer season on Saturday 9th April at 11am.  The 1930s lido will reopen early and operate for a full six months, the longest season in its history.  The opening day will again be celebrated with the annual ‘Turning Back Time’ day.  Entrance price is a mere 2 pence (equivalent of the 1935 entrance price of sixpence) and staff will be dressed in the traditional navy white uniforms.

As the gates are opened at 11am, Cheltenham Silver Band will provide a rousing welcome for young and old alike who will be keen to enter the heated swimming pools for the first time this year.

If you are feeling energetic you can enter our traditional one length (50m) ‘Sandford Sprint’ which will take place at 1pm.
At 2pm we will have some high quality sporting action with the current British champions Cheltenham Water Polo Club playing an exhibition match against Solihull Water Polo Club.  This will be a great opportunity to watch the national champions on their home turf and also for any children who may be considering taking up the sport.  Spectators are very welcome.

At 3.30pm Cheltenham Canoe Club will again provide the ever popular opportunity for children to experience canoeing in a safe pool environment.

The Café Lido which has undergone refurbishment throughout the winter will also reopen on this day.  They offer a wide range of hot and cold food and drink.  They are particularly focusing on healthy additions to the current hot offerings, so there will be some tasty changes!

Season tickets are available throughout the season and can be purchased with a 10% discount before Sunday 17th April.  More information is available at www.sandfordparkslido.org.uk
