Gloucestershire Airport Runway Run is Ready for Take Off

CLIC Sargent Gloucestershire Airport Runway Run

CLIC Sargent, a charity supporting children and young people with cancer, is launching a brand new and exciting event; the Gloucestershire Airport Runway Run.

On Saturday 1 October this year, runners and walkers have exclusive access the local airport after dark, with the course lit by the runway lights! The tarmac route will be a perfect fun run distance of around 5km and participants can sign up in teams of four at a discounted rate.

Even those who aren’t keen runners can still come along and join the fun, as on the night from 7.30pm, the event village will be free to access for the public. There will be food and fun at the airport for the whole family, including hog roast and pizzas.

CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager Caroline Marshall said; “We are really excited about this fantastic new event for the local area.

Gloucestershire Airport is a dynamic local business and great to work with. And we’ve had wonderful support from local businesses Safran Landing Systems and Renishaw Plc, so it’s shaping up to be a brilliant night.”

CLIC Sargent is the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people. Once diagnosed with cancer, a young person from Gloucestershire is likely to begin treatment at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children as this is the nearest hospital that can provide the specialist care required. As initial diagnoses are given in Bristol, miles away from home, they offer every family free accommodation at CLIC House or Sam’s House, which are their Homes from Homes located just five minutes away from the hospital.

As part of the Runway Run, CLIC Sargent are asking every participant to fundraise just £75, which would fund a family to use their Home from Home services for two nights, allowing them to stay together at this difficult time.
