High Five Phoenix V!

The Phoenix Festival showcases music, dance and family fun for a fifth consecutive year over the summer bank holiday weekend!

This much-anticipated free music festival takes place for the fifth time on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th August in the Abbey Grounds, Cirencester where it will entertain festival fans across three stages, a performance arena, DJ bandstand, children’s activities and a whole lot more.

“We feel very proud of what we’ve achieved over the last five years” said volunteer Event Manager, Glen Moreman “The Festival has really grown in size and quality. We are so very grateful to all our funders, supporters and volunteers and we hope with all their continued help we can develop and sustain the Phoenix Festival into the future

This year, the alternating Cozy Powell and Vaults stages will fill the site with sounds of 2 Tone Ska, classic rock, electronic rock, bluegrass rap, brit-pop, rockabilly, folk, trance, house, R’n’B, and soul and funk.

On the Cozy Powell Stage, the Festival welcomes back the alternative rock five-piece Little Red Kings who shook The Vaults Stage last year with their ballads and rootsy stompers and says hello to newcomers Tenth Electric a ferociously energetic electronic rock group. Headliners, Los Palmas 6, a seven-piece top class authentic Madness tribute band will perform a show of 100 per cent pure madness on Saturday and David Live a “spot-on” “must-see” tribute act and cover band will celebrate and capture the sounds and incarnations of the late David Bowie on Sunday.

This year The Vaults stage has a new home next to the Cozy Powell Stage and will include headliners DJ Mark Moggy Moore of the infamous tunnel house parties, whose first major gig was with the Ministry of Sound and the folksy, shake your booty, four-piece Missin’ Rosie. Be ready for some old school house, disco mixes, Ibiza trance and lyrical journeys of love, life and legless pirates & fairies!

The Vaults Stage will also showcase The Barking Chickens who performed rock, ska and blues last year on the Let’s Play Music Stage and whose thumping horns section sets them apart!

The hugely popular Let’s Play Music Stage has successfully scheduled more than 40 acts of various ages, some of whom will be performing for their first time. They include drummers, guitarists, pianists, brass, woodwind, duos, solo singers and new for this year, poets.

Arena performances will include fantastic festival regulars Phoenix Flames cheerleaders and Cirencester Creative Dance Academy and on Sunday a one-off theatre production Midsummer Dream a 30 minute adaptation of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

The Bandstand will be hosted by Outlaw Promotions who will be keeping the Drum & Bass rolling. Expect to see a few familiar Outlaw faces as well as some special guest DJ’s. They will also be slotting in workshops each day for any aspiring DJ’s.

Plus a Fun Fair, Tug of War and World Jungle circus, games, giant bubbles, African drumming, arts and crafts, henna and UV face painting and the ever popular Decimal Skate Ramp with graffiti artists Visual Drop.

Corinium Ales and The Vaults will keep you lubricated in the beer tent with a selection of real ales, lagers, ciders, wines and soft drinks, plus there will be food caterers, festival traders, charity and community information stalls.
