Tewkesbury Borough Council announces Festive Free Parking

Tewkesbury Borough Council is joining forces with local businesses to encourage residents to shop locally this Christmas.

To support local Christmas events and small businesses in the borough the council will provide free parking on three dates over the festive season.

The first of these dates is Sunday, 19 November for the Christmas lights switch-on in Tewkesbury town centre, free parking will be available in borough council run car parks to support this event.

The borough council will also be supporting Small Business Saturday - a national initiative to encourage consumers to ‘shop local’ and support small businesses in their communities. In order to encourage residents and visitors to support local traders and businesses when stocking up on Christmas goodies, free parking will be offered in Tewkesbury and Winchcombe in borough council run car parks on Saturday, 2 December.

Winchcombe shoppers can also take advantage of free parking (in borough council run car parks) on the last Saturday before Christmas, 23 December - to help local businesses with trade and shoppers with their last-minute search for the perfect gifts.

Councillor Rob Bird, Lead Member for Economic Development and Promotion said of the free parking initiative "Free parking is an added incentive to visit the unique array of shops, cafes and markets of the wonderful towns of Tewkesbury and Winchcombe, on these special occasions. The festive season is a great time to explore these distinctive places and the alternatives they offer."
