Dragon Whisperer to share stories at Sudeley Castle’s Spectacle of Light

Dragon Whisperer to share stories at Sudeley Castle’s Spectacle of Light

The world’s only living Dragon Whisperer will entertain families at this winter’s Spectacle of Light at Sudeley Castle – while helping flying dragons land safely and protecting the tower dungeon.

Agent Green of DCHQ (Dragon Conservation Headquarters) – aka Cheltenham-based spoken word artist Chloe Green of the Midnight Storytellers – will draw on the magic of mythology to entertain families as part of the illuminated light and sound trail around the Winchcombe castle’s historic grounds.

Agent Green said: “DCHQ recently found work at Sudeley Castle for a young dragon known as Nightwatch, he’s running the central heating system from secret cellars deep under the tower. He’s also added his magical knowledge to the illuminations – making landing lights to help dragons avoid crashing into trees.”

The family-friendly Spectacle of Light returns for a second season of sparkle with a new illuminated trail alongside the castle’s romantic ruins, water features and gardens.

It will feature majestic trees, Moroccan lanterns, a kaleidoscope of parasols and an enchanted tree energising its sparkling roots, all lit under the stars and accompanied by inspiring music.

The dazzling displays take place on selected nights between December 8 – 30, with specific entry time slots from 5pm – 7:30pm each evening and free parking in the castle’s new all-weather car park.

Cheltenham-based event producer Nic Beeby said: “Bringing in an expert dragon whisperer to monitor flying activity and ensure everyone’s safety was our top priority, and I’m sure Chloe’s storytelling will bring a sense of family fun to the event that can be enjoyed by everyone.

“Our second Spectacle of Light will appeal to everyone from grandparents to grandchildren and seeing it come to life in such a beautiful setting will be fantastic.”

Mulled wine, cider and hot drinks are available, as well as hot savoury treats along the way and scrumptiously sweet delights on the castle terrace.

Advanced tickets have a 10% saving and are available from www.sudeleycastle.co.uk/Spectacle or by calling 01242 705555. You can also buy in person at the everyman Theatre in Cheltenham.

‘On the day’ tickets are only available in person from 4pm onwards at Sudeley Castle Visitor Centre.
