REVIEW: Sleeping Beauty at The Roses Theatre

REVIEW: Sleeping Beauty at The Roses Theatre

Sleeping Beauty is now in full swing at The Roses Theatre in Tewkesbury and our family of four went along this 5 December to kick-start our Christmas season.

In the packed auditorium old and young alike were in full festive cheer; a very engaged Brownie Group to our right was audibly buzzing with excitement, all set for some intense audience participation - they were not disappointed.

Welcome to Woolacombe, a Fairyland Palace full of quick wit, humour, people (and fairies) that don't age a jot over a tale that transports us over 118 years. This production takes you through good and evil, dreams and nightmares, life and love, time and timelessness ... and leaves you feeling warm and cosy in the knowledge that everybody needs somebody to love (especially if they are wearing fluffy slippers).

This pantomime has everything for everyone; colourful sets and costumes for my five-year old daughter; sword fights and slapstick for my seven-year old son; a humorous nod to Brexit and austerity for the hubby; and, (alongside some surprisingly good acting) the most hilarious sixty seconds of non-human stage presence that left me in genuine stitches.

Put on your Christmas jumper and head to The Roses this December.

One thing's for sure, you won't fall asleep!

Sleeping Beauty runs until Sunday 31 December 2017 - book your tickets online or via the Box Office.
