Gloucester Cathedral Invites People to Party like Pilgrims

Project Pilgrim at Gloucester Cathedral

On Sunday 24 June at 12noon, Gloucester Cathedral is inviting local residents to come and enjoy an afternoon of medieval-themed family fun to celebrate the completion of Project Pilgrim Phase 1.

Building work has now finished on the ground-breaking £6m project which involved conserving and improving key parts of the Cathedral for visitors and was supported by a £4.6m grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).

A range of activities will be available to suit all ages and tastes, including archery, circus performers, stonemason demonstrations, heritage crafts, scaffolding tours, choral music and lots more.

As well as The Monk’s Kitchen’s own refreshments, a Hog-Roast will be available in the Cathedral grounds.

The Very Reverend Stephen Lake, Dean of Gloucester said: “The purpose of Project Pilgrim remains to help Gloucester Cathedral to become as welcoming and accessible as possible for everyone. The completion of the first phase of the project is a significant milestone towards this goal and we are delighted with the outcome. What better way to celebrate and to thank people for their support than to invite them to their Cathedral to see the results for themselves and to enjoy a day of fun activities for the whole family.”
