Tewkesbury Food and Drink Festival – opens its doors this weekend.
Get crafty making chocolate shoes, cuddle the animals at the mini farm park, see celebrity chef Paul Rankin at work, learn how to taste beer and wine from the professionals, and of course, enter the Vegetable Olympics – these are just some of the exciting things you can do at the Tewkesbury Food & Drink Festival this weekend.
Once again we’ll have a packed Food Hall where we bring together over 60 top producers all passionate about what they do and who will be keen to share their enthusiasm. From them, visitors can sample and buy a range of wonderful food and drink just as a treat for themselves, or as great gifts for others. It is impossible to resist tasting the gorgeous food put in front of you in the Food Hall.
The festival will be opened by Tewkesbury Borough Council’s The Worshipful The Mayor Councillor Phil Awford at 10am on Saturday 3 May. Now in its 4th year the festival is really established and grows in size and success every year. This means that the festival has a new location for 2008 at The Vineyards which has allowed us to expand.
There will be Fun and Frolics at Out of the Hat during the festival with ‘Herbs and History’ on Saturday 3 May where visitors can make herby crafts such as lavender bags and cinnamon hangings. There will also be some delicious tasty treats for you to munch on whilst taking in the wonderful surrounds of this beautiful historic building. Sunday 4 May is your opportunity to visit Out of the Hat at a reduced price – a special festival offer.
Anna Sanders, Tourism Marketing Officer at Tewkesbury Borough Council said “The Borough Council are once again delighted to be organising and hosting the Food & Drink Festival. It has started to really put Tewkesbury on the map for the Bank Holiday weekend and continues to promote Tewkesbury as a fun filled place to visit all year round”
This initiative is part of the Gloucestershire Flood Recovery Programme managed by Gloucestershire First and kindly supported by Severn Trent Water.
