Cotswold Motoring Museum's 30th Birthday!
Press Release: Celebrating it’s 30th anniversary this year, the Cotswold Motoring Museum & Toy Collection is a great day out for all the family situated in the picturesque stone village of Bourton-on-the-Water. Throughout this full to bursting museum you will find quizzes, feely boxes, building games, brass rubbings, old fashioned toys, dressing-up boxes... and these are not just for the grown-ups, kids can join in too!
Take a nostalgic trip down memory lane. The Cotswold Motoring Museum & Toy Collection is bulging with great cars, quaint caravans, precarious looking motorcycles, enamel signs and an intriguing collection of motoring curiosities. We have showcases packed with memorabilia, from gramophones to cameras, picnic sets to petrol cans. Around these objects are woven stories, history, facts and feelings, creating a magical museum where the past evokes powerful memories and inspires future generations.
What do you remember about 1978? This is the year the Cotswold Motoring Museum & Toy Collection was born. To celebrate 30 years the museum has put together a special collection of memorabilia from 1978. ‘You’re the one that we want!’ allows young and old to step back in time and experience 1978 first hand. This is one of the museum’s regularly changing exhibitions and events, so check out the Cotswold Motoring Museum & Toy Collection website for details.
Throughout the Cotswold Motoring Museum & Toy Collection there are sounds and smells from the days of the blacksmith through to the era of heavy metal and glam rock. And the star of the show? You will be delighted to find Brum living within the museum. The little yellow superhero car was filmed within the museum, and his adventures are still regularly shown on the BBC. Brum loves having his photo taken, so don’t forget your camera!
- Open Daily: 10am – 6pm
- How to find us: The Old Mill, Bourton on the Water, the museum is situated just off the High Street behind the war memorial. Park in the village car parks and follow signs to village centre and museum.
