Preview of Frightmare Halloween event at Over Farm near Gloucester

Frightmare Halloween event at Over Farm near Gloucester

This year Over Farm market have teamed up with Scare Attractions UK to bring you a scarier Halloween event than ever before. this will definitely be a big hit with the children over this October half term school holiday.

The Haunted Hayrides are now quite legendary and everyone at Over Farm seems s to have their own favourite and this year is obviously a hard act to follow. Explore Gloucestershire went along for a peak preview on Friday 24 October. On a lovely clear evening the setting was just about perfect as we set off with our monk guide to the Monastery St. Mass-Acre in the appropriately decorated hayride trailer. The journey itself did not pass without incident and set the scene for what was in store.

Our adventure around the Monastery was full of frights and scares with lots of actors in gruesome attire on hand to guide the way. There was a lot of laughing and shrieking. It’s strange the way you laugh when you don’t know what’s round the next corner. Oh yes, and only the very brave go first! The old outbuildings were very well disguised and laid out to fit the occasion. My favourite bit was the kitchen, but it would be unfair to give too much away! It was extremely well done even though we did learn that there was still a few adjustment to be made. Just when we thought our journey was over we had to be ‘de-contaminated’, when even more madness was in store.
We decided to heed the warnings and visit the Halloween Cottage which has been brought to Over Farm for Fright mare. This was in intensely shock- a- second experience which young children would find very scary. We would recommend this for over 12’s ideally, but those of us who are a bit fond of the odd horror film loved it.

It was a great evening and as of Saturday 25th all the daytime activities will also be available during the evenings. Therefore, I was a little disappointed in missing the Zombie Paintball Alley! Daytime activities are for children of all ages and have been called the Frightfully funny half of Frightmare. During the evenings events become Frightfully scary and are suitable for older children and adults. Early evening when darkness falls is a great time to visit if you have both young children and 12 years plus.

You will also be able to pick your own pumpkin and this is quite an adventure in itself as there are so many to choose from. Also on hand are delicious home-made burgers and hot dogs, other hot food snacks and drinks.

The fun doesn’t actually end when you get home as then you are faced within the artistic challenge of carving the best pumpkin in the neighbourhood!

Booking is recommended for the trailer rides as some evenings are already sold out .
