Birthday Celebrations with tea and cake at Gloucester Folk Museum
To mark the official 75th Birthday of Gloucester Folk Museum on Tuesday 12th October visitors are invited to join museum staff for afternoon tea, a slice of cake and a spot of music from 1pm – 4pm.
Visitors who were born in the same year as the Gloucester Folk Museum (1935) or before will be treated to complimentary tea and cake. Any other guests will be asked to make a 50 pence donation.
The current exhibition celebrates the last three quarters of a century and looks back at the Folk Museums founding collections and highlight some of the objects that were on display on the very first day it opened. It will give the background as to why it was set up and what issues were concerning the Museum and wider world at that time. It will also be looking forward too, at developments such as the Heritage Lottery funded project currently underway that will ensure that the Folk Museums next 75 years are as successful as their last.
