Young Engineers Experience Days at the National Waterways Museum

Tuesday 27 August 2019

Come and be an engineer for the day at the National Waterways Museum Gloucester by getting up close to the historic Fielding engine in the Engine House near the museum.

Young engineers will learn about the Fielding engine by going though an engine checklist and see its inner workings using the cross section. They will then see the engine in action before going to lunch (please bring a packed lunch).

Children will then get a chance to work out how they would explain the Fielding Engine to the general public, creating any visuals they might need and then having a little practice. At 2pm they will get a chance to explain the engine to Museum Visitors. Parents are welcome to come back at 2pm to learn about the engine, or come and pick up from the museum when the session finishes at 2.30pm.

The sessions on these dates are suitable for children aged 11 and up.

Please contact helen.evans@canalrivertrust.org.uk for more information and to book your free place. Booking is essential as the day is limited to 4 children.

Also on Tuesday 20 August.
