Art Courses at Nature in Art - Scraperboard
Saturday 5 - Sunday 6 April 2025
With Jackie Cox
Nature in Art at Wallsworth Hall is the world's first museum and art gallery dedicated to art inspired by nature. They run creative art courses throughout the year.
Scraperboard is a fascinating technique for creating tonal images by scratching through a layer of India ink to reveal the white chalk beneath. This versatile and engaging medium allows for both detailed and textured depictions. Participants will explore various types of scraperboard and scratchboard, learning different methods for making marks and techniques for colouring the scratched areas afterward.
The workshop will also delve into the creative possibilities of using the white chalk ground, experimenting with custom surface layers to scratch through, and exploring mixed media applications.
All materials will be provided for a fee of £10.
