CHRISTMAS REVIEW: Aladdin at the Everyman, Cheltenham

REVIEW: Aladdin at the Everyman, Cheltenham

It's definitely starting to get festive now that we’ve been to the panto.

The opening night of Aladdin at The Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham proved to be another hit with a full house.

The story of the poor lad from Peking and his impoverished family who discover a magical lamp and wish-granting genie is brought to life in a spectacular show full of colour, music and humour.

Tweedy is back as the brother of Aladdin, and William Elliot returns to play Widow Twankey. Tweedy is hilarious throughout and children squealed with laughter at his very presence. Tweedy and Widow Twankey steal the show with scenes that had the whole auditorium roaring with laughter. We loved Tweedy's new pet Keef and car Shrimpy, and the scene in the launderette brought visible tears of laughter. The evil Abanazer even reveals a different side of his character that left us all chuckling away.

It’s another great performance from everyone involved and a fabulous show for the whole family to enjoy.
