Budding artist? Make it your New Year’s resolution to exhibit at your local heritage centre

Following its popularity in 2013, The Dean Heritage Centre (DHC) is once again, asking people from the local area to submit a piece for their annual community art exhibition. The 2014 exhibition will run from Saturday 8th February until Sunday 23rd March and is the perfect opportunity to have your work seen by a wide audience.

Any medium will be considered as long as it is submitted mirror plated and can be securely fitted to a wall.

To enter visit Dean Heritage Centre to download more information and a short submission form.

Please return the completed form with a jpeg of your proposed artwork attached via email to Phillippa@deanheritagecentre.com or post to Phillippa Turner, Dean Heritage Centre, Soudley, GLOS, GL14 2UB. The deadline for submission is Friday 24th January.

Following the closing date, centre staff will choose which artworks will be put on display and notify the artists who will be involved in the 2014 collection. Successful entrants will be required to deliver artwork to the Centre between Monday 3rd and Thursday 6th February or attend the Centre to install their work on Friday 7th February.

Harri Le Claire, PR and event manager said: “Last year’s exhibition saw a variety of artists taking the opportunity to display work in different mediums, some for the very first time. It proved so popular that we plan to run the event every year. The exhibition is open to anyone; from those who occasionally dabble with a paintbrush to those who make a living from it. Many people will have a New Year’s resolution to get back into their hobbies, this could be a great way to kick the year off and build confidence in an artistic talent.”

Entry to view the exhibition is included in the Centre’s admission fee and more information can be found at www.deanheritagecentre.com.

Please note: Please do not send original artwork. The DHC will not be held responsible for any artwork sent through the post. Reception staff will not receive original artwork for submission however hand delivered submission forms with a photograph in an envelope addressed for attention of Phillippa Turner are most welcome.
