New pigs ‘Spotted’ at Dean Heritage Centre

New pigs ‘Spotted’ at Dean Heritage Centre

The Dean Heritage Centre (DHC) is delighted to announce the arrival of two brand new ‘Gloucester Old Spot’ pigs following the departure of their previous residents, Peanut and Twiglet.

The pigs have settled in well to their new surroundings and are already amusing visitors as they adapt to their new audience.

Harri Le Claire, PR and Event Manager said: “It’s great to have pigs onsite again as they are very popular with families, particularly those with small children. For a long time we had no pigs as the land had to be rested but we were regularly asked when they’d be returning. We are also running a fun competition and asking visitors to think of some good names for the pigs and I’m looking forward to seeing what visitors can come up with!”

The return of the pigs adds yet another string to the centre’s bow as it gears up for another year of events and activities including the upcoming launch of the Room on the Broom Woodland trail. The trail which has its official launch weekend on Friday 18th until Monday 21st will remain onsite throughout 2014.

For more information on the Room on the Broom launch event which includes appearances from the official Gruffalo character, the witch and the dragon as well as an illustrated talk by Daryl Shute, the producer of the Gruffalo and Room on the Broom films, visit www.deanheritagecentre.com.

Dean Heritage Centre is open daily.
