Lechlade Festival Team Reveal Their Win!

The team behind Lechlade Music Festival revealed all to celebrate their recent win in the Countryside Alliance Awards.

The 3 day Festival, which this year takes place from 23rd-25th May, has been crowned Midlands Champion in the national awards in recognition of community involvement and support.  Several community groups will get involved with the family-friendly event including pupils from St Lawrence School in Lechlade who will open proceedings with the school choir and maypole dancing. Students from Farmors School in Fairford undertook a project to re-brand the family workshop tent, naming it ‘The Green Welly’ and a VI Form student is designing and building a new festival entrance.

Festival Director Jennie Rainsford explained how the team came to bare all.  “When we received our winners' pack from The Countryside Alliance we pondered how best to display our fetching aprons and brilliant bunting. Other winners posed in their cafes and bars, whilst we had nothing but an empty field until the festival weekend. A bit of creative thinking and a few bottles of red wine later and the team agreed to a daring photo shoot! We’re very grateful to awards sponsors Hunter Boots and The Telegraph for covering our modesty!”

The Festival is one of 10 regional finalists from across the UK who are invited to a winners’ reception at the House of Lords later this month, where the overall winner will be announced.

Children 16 and under get in free to Lechlade Festival.  With tickets from just £57 for the weekend, this is a great value event for the whole family.
