'Be in Awe of Ore' - art exhibition at Dean Heritage Centre

'Be in Awe of Ore' - art exhibition at Dean Heritage Centre

Local artist Amanda Christine Cox focuses on the natural splendour underneath the Forest of Dean in her latest exhibition titled “Ore: Treasure and Promise Under the Forest”

On display at the Dean Heritage Centre (DHC) from Saturday 17th May until Sunday 22nd June 2014, this enchanting new exhibition showcases Amanda’s fascination with the natural beauty of the physical environment when juxtaposed by the suffering of the miners who worked there.

Commenting on her work, Amanda said: “Ever since I was a child I have been fascinated by geology; what secrets have been laid down under the ground over past millennia, eons ago, before man set foot on our Earth?”

Although always interested in geology, Amanda was moved most recently by a recent visit to local caves. Her work highlights the beauty of the rocks, crystals and minerals beneath our feet as well as showing the pain and suffering endured by those who risked their lives and health by working in such dangerous conditions.

Entry to the exhibition is included in admission to the Dean Heritage Centre.
