LAST WEEK of the 2014 British Wildlife Photography Awards

2014 British Wildlife Photography Awards

Ending Sunday 16th November!

A celebration of British Wildlife. Visitors have thoroughly enjoyed the 2014 British Wildlife Photography Awards, here at Nature in Art.

The awards are uniquely British and were created to celebrate the talents of both amateur and professional photographers whilst highlighting the wealth of British natural history. This exhibition plays host to a collection of around 100 images which celebrate British wildlife as captured on camera by today’s best amateur and professional photographers.

The winning images are chosen as part of several separate categories which showcase an array of habitats and wildlife including; portraits, season, habitat, behaviour, black & white, urban, wildwoods and many other, including a video documentary category as well. There are also two junior categories which aim to encourage younger generations to appreciate and connect with nature through photography. Plus new for this year, a school award!

All winning images can be seen here: http://www.bwpawards.co.uk

The title, British Wildlife Photographer 2014 was awarded to ‘The Tourist’, by Lee Acaster, for his image of a Greylag Goose in London

The winner is awarded £5000 & category winners each receive a Canon PowerShot S120 Camera and a Canon LEGRIA mini-digital creative camcorder, plus splash proof case.

Judge Mark Ward, Editor-in-Chief, at RSPB Nature’s Home Magazine commented “the winning photograph shows a familiar bird in a familiar setting, but the visual impact is extraordinary. The stormy, brooding backdrop sets a dramatic scene, while the orange and pink from the bird bring vibrancy to the monochromatic cityscape. Lee’s stunning photograph proves you do not have to travel far from home to capture the very best of Britain’s wildlife images.”

Sponsors for the 2014 Awards include; Canon, SKY, RSPB Wildlife Explorers, WWF, The Wildlife Trusts, City of London, Countryside Jobs Service, CVP.com, Buglife, Paramo, Young Pioneers and Outdoor Photography Magazine.
