Creative Christmas at Corinium Museum

Christmas in Gloucestershire

Explore the wonders of local art and craft in two stunning exhibitions back to back on the run up to Christmas.

Starting on 20 November is the Cotswold Craftsmen’s Christmas show. An eclectic mix of locally made products by expert craftspeople. The Cotswold craftsmen is a long established group whose membership is drawn from all around the Cotswolds.

Following this and opening on 9 December, is Creative Forum’s Winter Show. This winter exhibition brings together paintings, ceramics, sculpture, textiles, photography and jewellery to suit all tastes.

With everything made by hand across both exhibitions, this is the perfect time to visit the museum and pick up something unique as a gift for family, friends or the home, whilst supporting a talented cluster of local artists.

Our winter programme is looking vibrant so come in out of the cold and enjoy some of our exciting events this December. On 5 December at 1.30pm, we host a very special showing of It’s a Wonderful Life, in colour, with tea and cake to warm the heart.

This is followed by a welcome return by historian, Tim Porter, who will be sharing The Christmas Story in Medieval Art, during his afternoon talk on 10 December at 2pm. The same evening at 7pm, we will be screening another Christmas classic, White Christmas, with the romantic and talented Bing Crosby starring in the film.

On the lead up to Christmas, we invite families to join us for some seasonal art and craft activities on 21, 22 and 23 December, 10-11am. We will be making Jack Frost masks, Snowmen on Sticks and Christmas angels in time to give your home that final hand-made decoration touch.

The Corinium Museum tells the story of archaeology across the Cotswolds with an emphasis on discoveries from Roman Corinium. A vibrant events programme takes place throughout the year.

Entry to the temporary exhibition space is free. There is a charge for other events.
