TV Presenter Adam Henson launches new Bushcraft Experience

TV Presenter Adam Henson launches new Bushcraft Experience

Adam Henson, popular TV presenter and arguably the nation’s favourite farmer, is once again diversifying the family’s farming business.

Together with his business partner Duncan Andrews, and their friends Tim Lanfear and Jose Perieria, Adam is launching a new bushcraft experience on his Cotswolds farm.

The 1-day course from newly-launched ‘Cotswold Adventures’ will suit adrenaline-seekers and land-lovers alike, from families to corporate groups. Surrounded by beautiful rolling hills, and under the canopy of the private woodland, attendees will learn all about basic foraging, shelter building, game preparation, fire-lighting, whittling and natural navigation.

I grew up running around this woodland with my sisters, enjoying the peace of it but also the challenges it throws up at you”, says Henson. “It’s a real pleasure to invite people up here to come and experience a slice of it for themselves. Tim and Jose are qualified bushcraft instructors, so they’re safe pairs of hands to guide everyone through it.

Apart from one adults-only session in July, the course is intended to be as inclusive as possible, with a minimum age of just 8 years.

“Living in such a fast-paced world, full of technology, it’s never been more important to just get kids out into nature,” Henson continues. “This is a way of encouraging them – in a safe environment – to get outside their comfort zone and try something new and a bit different. They may never whittle wood or start a fire again in their lives, but at least they’ll know how to! It’s a great way to spend time bonding as a family as well, because in some cases, the parents may not have experienced these things either, so you’re all coming to it from the same level.”

There was great feedback following a trial session of the course, with one mum writing “would wholeheartedly recommend it, it's an adventure, a challenge and not your run-of-the-mill walk in the woods. My eight year old loved it, and something he will talk about for a long time!”

There will be twelve weekend bushcraft sessions this year, with limited places available and the option to extend your trip by staying at the newly-renovated camp site. Visit www.cotswoldadventures.com to book your places; £100 for adults and £80 for children.
