Curtain rises on new theatre season at the Everyman Theatre Cheltenham
Top class drama and a host of stage and screen stars will grace the Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham over the coming months as chief executive Mark Goucher unveils a new season with popular shows and exciting new productions.
As well as improving the front of house spaces over the summer, Mark Goucher has also worked with his team to create a balanced programme offering quality entertainment for all tastes.
One of the highlights is a reworking of the Ronald Harwood comedy, Quartet in February 2018. This Everyman Theatre/Mark Goucher production will premier in Cheltenham before going on to a national tour. This follows the success of his revival of The Dresser last year.
Quartet will star Paul Nicholas (The Real Marigold Hotel; Just Good Friends; EastEnders); Wendi Peters (Coronation Street); Sue Holderness (Only Fools and Horses and previous Everyman production Mrs Warren’s Profession) and Jeff Rawle (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Drop The Dead Donkey).
Quartet is based on a group of ageing opera singers in a magnificent retirement home in Kent.
Million Dollar Quartet comes to Cheltenham following a sold out West End run and charts the story of how four stars – Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins – made rock n roll history.
Driving Miss Daisy sees legendary actress Dame Sian Phillips star alongside RSC actor and top children’s show presenter Derek Griffiths; and EastEnders stars Jessie Wallace and Paul Bradley team up to head the cast of Deathtrap – a spine-tingling thriller based on the Ira Levin book.
Khaled Hosseini’s best-selling novel The Kite Runner comes to town fresh from the West End followed by top comedy in Alan Ayckbourn’s How the Other Half Loves with Robert Daws; Caroline Langrishe; Matthew Cottle, Sara Crowe; Charlie Brooks and Leon Ockenden.
Nick Newman and Ian Hislop’s The Wipers Times tells the true and incredible story of the satirical newspaper created amid the mud and mayhem of the Somme.
Once again all the family will love Gloucestershire’s biggest and best pantomime, Dick Whittington and His Cat. Tweedy will bring the house down with a show packed with jokes, slapstick and songs.

The New Year blasts into life with the hilarious The Play That Goes Wrong back by popular demand; a major new production of Noel Coward’s Private Lives; Flashdance – The Musical and Birdsong, Sebastian Faulks’s novel of love and courage set during the Great War.
The season comes to its finale with Pressure – a real life thriller written by and starring David Haig; the classic musical Blood Brothers; Brighton Rock; a major new revival of The Winslow Boy; Hairspray the Musical and David Walliam’s best-selling book and now an award-winning West End show – Gangsta Granny.
