Tewkesbury half marathon returns for 2018

Tewkesbury half marathon returns for 2018

Tewkesbury will be packed with runners next Sunday (13 May) as the half marathon takes to the roads for another year.

Advice to those planning to drive in and around Tewkesbury on Sunday is to plan ahead as there will be some road closures taking place.

Tewkesbury High Street will be closed from 9am to 12.30pm and Cheltenham Road (between Kinsham and Aston on Carrant) will be will be closed in both directions between 10am and 12pm.

Runners will set off from the Gupshill on the Gloucester Road in Tewkesbury at 10am and will head towards the town before continuing up the Ashchurch Road, through Northway and the surrounding villages of Kinsham and Bredon before heading back into Tewkesbury.

This year, the marathon will have a spectacular ending on Tewkesbury High Street, making this a brilliant place for spectators to watch their loved ones come in and creating a fantastic atmosphere in the town.

Tewkesbury’s lead member for health and wellbeing, Councillor Julie Greening, said: “We are proud to support Tewkesbury’s half marathon and wish all our residents, who have trained so hard to take part, the best of luck. Even if you don’t know anyone participating, why not pop into town to cheer the runners along, enjoy the atmosphere and stop off in one the cafés or browse the local shops.”
