Gloucester Cathedral Launches ‘Make a Will Fortnight 2018’

Gloucester Cathedral Launches ‘Make a Will Fortnight 2018’

From Monday 15 October – Friday 26 October, Gloucester Cathedral, in partnership with Tayntons Solicitors and Willans Solicitors, is running it’s ‘Make a Will Fortnight’ to encourage people to make a basic will or update an existing one.

During ‘Make a Will Fortnight’, Tayntons and Willans will be waiving their usual fee for making a basic* will, and instead invite those taking part to consider making a donation** to support Gloucester Cathedral or The Friends of Gloucester Cathedral.

Your will tells everyone what should happen to your money, possessions and property after you die, and if you do not have one, these decisions will be left to the court to decide – who they decide to pass it on to may not be in line with your wishes. It’s easy and stress-free to make or update a will, and by doing so, you’ll be supporting the upkeep of one of the most iconic buildings in Gloucestershire.

The Very Reverend Stephen Lake, Dean of Gloucester said: “Everyone should have an up-to-date will as it ensures that their nearest and dearest will be provided for after they have passed on. We are very grateful to Tayntons and Willans for their support and in turn the support from those who make or update their wills during the scheme.”

To benefit from this rare opportunity, please contact either:

  • Janine Guthrie at Tayntons in Gloucester on 01452 509008
  • Tom O’Riordan or Jennifer Cockett at Willans in Cheltenham on 01242 514000

Please make an appointment in good time to avoid disappointment and mention Gloucester Cathedral “Will Fortnight”

By participating in this offer you are under no obligation whatsoever to include the Cathedral or the Friends of Gloucester Cathedral in your will.

*A basic will is a will that does not require any inheritance tax planning advice nor the use of complicated trusts. If you think you may require either or both of these then please discuss this with the solicitor when you make your appointment.

**suggested donation £100 or £150 for a couple (for straightforward wills)

For more information about this opportunity head to the ‘Support/Leave a Legacy/Make a Will Fortnight’ section of the Gloucester Cathedral website www.gloucestercathedral.org.uk or contact the Gloucester Cathedral Development team on 01452 874963.
