Magnificent autumn colour survives storm Callum
Despite being hit by storm Callum at the weekend, the trees at Batsford Arboretum are still displaying magnificent autumn colours.
The 56 acre arboretum near Moreton in Marsh in Gloucestershire is home to over 1300 tree species from around the world - including a large collection of Japanese maples, as well as Sorbus, Euonymus and cherries. Despite having to close the arboretum for safety reasons while the storm passed, the tree collection remains unaffected and is providing a show-stopping autumnal display of fiery reds, pinks, oranges and golds.
Batsford’s Head Gardener Matthew Hall says: “Thankfully our trees stood up to the recent storm extremely well and the autumn leaves are intact! The arboretum looks stunning; now is the time to visit for masses of colour”
As well as spectacular autumn colours, visitors to Batsford can enjoy stunning views across the tree canopy to the Evenlode Valley and Cotswolds beyond. It offers visitors a wonderful place to enjoy wonderful walks beside the meandering paths and streams.
