December fun at Corinium Museum thanks to The National Lottery

December fun at Corinium Museum thanks to The National Lottery

#ThanksToYou

From the 3-9 December 2018 National Lottery Players can visit the Corinium Museum for free.

Corinium Museum will be throwing open its doors for free to National Lottery players during the week of 3-9 December 2018. They are one of hundreds of participating National Lottery-funded visitor attractions across the UK saying ‘thanks’ to people who have raised money for good causes by buying a lottery ticket.

The idea is simple: any visitor who presents a National Lottery ticket or scratchcard on 3-9 December gets free entry in return.

Thanks to money raised by National Lottery players, the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) has awarded funding of £676,900 to help the Corinium Museum turn their plans into a reality. The HLF has been a long-term supporter of the Museum, having previously funded a major project at the site in 2001. Now this National Lottery support can help revitalise these important galleries, creating many more opportunities for local people and visitors alike to see more fascinating objects that tell the story of the Cotswolds through the early periods in our history.

Ros Kerslake, Chief Executive of the Heritage Lottery Fund, said:
“December is a wonderful time to experience the UK’s rich, diverse and exciting heritage, which has been transformed by more than £7.8bn National Lottery funding since 1994.  This is a small gesture of thanks and a way of giving something back to the people who buy tickets.”

Amanda Hart, Museum Director, said:
“Thanks to National Lottery players we will be able to transform the front part of the Museum, creating a warm welcome for visitors and stunning new galleries which highlight the star objects from the prehistoric Cotswolds. The Discovery Centre will be an inspirational learning space for a diverse range of activities to be enjoyed by all our visitors.”
