Gloucester Cathedral Bells will toll for Notre Dame

Gloucester Cathedral Bells will toll for Notre Dame

On Maundy Thursday Gloucester Cathedral bells will ring out for seven minutes at 7.00pm.

Following the devastating fire at Notre Dame Cathedral, the Archbishops of Canterbury and York asked Cathedrals and Churches across England to toll their bells as a mark of solidarity. This initiative has been suggested by the British Ambassador to France, Edward Llewellyn, and it is hoped that many will take part.

Prayers will be said for Notre Dame at all of Gloucester Cathedral’s daily services throughout Holy Week and over Easter and everyone is welcome to join us.

The Very Reverend Stephen Lake, Dean of Gloucester said: “Our hearts go out to the people of Notre Dame and Paris following this unthinkable tragedy. We pray God gives them strength as they come to terms with this terrible event and begin the process of rebuilding.”
