Dinosaurs on the move in Gloucestershire!

Dinosaurs on the move in Gloucestershire!

It’s D-Day here too for a trio of Dinosaurs, as they make their way from their home at the Museum of Gloucester to their new home at Birdland Park and Gardens…

Three 'ROARSOME' dinosaurs will be transported from the Museum of Gloucester to their new home in Birdland Park and Gardens on the morning of Thursday 6th June and the two visitor attractions are asking passers-by to keep an eye out for the prehistoric creatures…

A team of experienced removal men are preparing to move the three giants out of the Museum where they will then be transported on an open top flat-bed lorry, up Birdlip Hill and through the beautiful Gloucestershire countryside to Birdland Park and Gardens in Bourton-on-the-Water.

It is expected it will make an amusing sight for onlookers and passers-by! The two attractions are offering family tickets for the best photo of the travelling Triceratops, T-Rex and Stegosaurus. Onlookers are asked to use #DinoSpotters when posting images to social media. (Please see the end of this note for more information about this competition and terms and conditions.)

The dinosaurs have been residents of the Museum of Gloucester for past two years and are now moving on to pastures new to join the other species in the Jurassic Journey at Birdland Park and Gardens.

This move is to make way for the new Moon exhibition, launching 29th June until 21st September 2019, at the Museum of Gloucester. The Museum tells the story of the city’s origins as a Roman settlement and its subsequent development through the Dark Ages and Medieval period, to the present day.

Birdland Park and Gardens and the Museum of Gloucester wanted to ensure these creatures remained in the county to remind residents and visitors to the region of the prehistoric history of the area when dinosaurs roamed the Cotswolds, more than 65 million years ago.

Dinosaur Move Social Media Competition

The Museum of Gloucester and Birdland Park and Gardens are partnering to give one lucky winner the chance to win a family ticket (2 adults and 2 children) to both the new Moon exhibition, launching 29th June, at the Museum of Gloucester and Birdland Park and Gardens.

To be in with a chance, entrants need to take a photo of the dinosaurs in transit on the morning of June 6th and use #DinoSpotters. One winner will be chosen, and they will be notified via social media by 5pm Friday 7th June.

The Moon exhibition family ticket will be valid from 29th June - 21st September. The Birdland Park and Gardens family ticket will be valid until 31st December.
