Latest from Hillside Brewery with a Royal Seal of Approval too!

Prince Charles enjoys Over The Hill

Prince Charles attended the recent launch of the Gilpin Festival celebrating the birthplace of package tourism which started 250 years ago in Ross On Wye, just 7 miles from Hillside Brewery. Prince Charles tried Hillside Brewery’s Over The Hill, 3.5% Dark Mild and said it was a great beer with a good body to it – giving it a Royal Seal of approval! This is great recognition for Hillside brewery who, since opening their doors in 2014, have now won over 45 awards for their delicious beers and business, long may it continue.

Hillside Haven Charity Beer
Hillside Brewery are big supporters of local charities. A close friend of Hillside Brewery was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, which caused them to create and brew a beer called ‘Joint Effort’ with 50% of profits being sent directly to Versus Arthritis charity to help those affected by charity. This was a delicious 3.6% pale ale with a balanced biscuit flavour and tropical fruit finish. This past month they have also brought out a single run of Hillside Haven, which is a bottled citrussey Pale Ale where 50p of each bottle goes directly to Breast Cancer Haven, helping those affected by breast cancer. What better way to support a charity than getting together for a beer?!

Severn Surge back in stock
Our Severn Surge 5.4% Porter is back in stock for the winter months! As the nights draw in, the cold set in, it often means that the fire is put on and many of us reach for a full bodied darker beer. The Severn Surge is made with 7 types of malt and named after the Severn Bore tidal wave which regularly hits the county’s river. The blend of 7 types of malt give this Porter a rich chocolate, smokey and biscuit malt that warms you up from the inside, out! It’s the ideal drink for the winter months and available until the start of February so be sure to visit the brewery to pick up a bottle… or a case!

Leonards at 39 – Stocking Keg Conditioned
The popular tapas & cocktail bar, Leonards at 39 in Ross have been keen supports of Hillside Brewery for the past couple of years. Recently they have seen a rise in demand for quality local beer and have chosen to develop their offering for this reason with Hillside Brewery. Last year they introduced the keg conditioned Legless Cow 4.2% Best Bitter which has been a best seller since then with caramel & toffee flavour and a balanced pear finish. Due to its popularity and affection from locals, they have decided to stock Hillside’s Legend of Hillside 4.7% English IPA, with hops grown just 18 miles from the Brewery in Herefordshire. They have chosen this one as it’s a refreshing IPA with honey, orange and spicy notes – perfectly complimenting some of their tapas dishes. The beer is all keg conditioned (conditioned in the same way as a cask) so it has all of the health benefits but has a longer life than cask – win win!
