Relaxed Shows, Access Tours & more magical adventure with Pinocchio

Pinocchio at Gloucester Guildhall

Relaxed Performances, Access Tours and more magical adventure with Pinocchio this Christmas

This Christmas, Gloucester Guildhall presents a magical adaptation of the classic tale, Pinocchio.

Families can expect a thrilling journey complete with live music, singing and puppetry, the family theatre show will appear at the Eastgate Street venue throughout the festive period.

With a fresh new script and original songs, the play tells the story of Pinocchio’s adventure to become a real boy. On a quest to make this happen, he falls into a wild adventure with dodgy foxes, a fun factory, a nosy cricket, a blue fairy and a whale at the bottom of the ocean.

With a growing nose, and an increasing scent for adventure, will Pinocchio ever become a real boy?

Produced by Strike A Light and presented by Gloucester Guildhall, the production is supported by the Great Place Scheme and Arts Council England, and forms part of the city’s puppetry themed winter programme, alongside the Christmas Lantern Procession and the Museum of Gloucester’s William Simmonds exhibition.

Gloucester Guildhall have also been awarded funding from Barnwood Trust to support additional access provision and are offering some designated Relaxed Performances and Access Tours.

Relaxed Performances are perfect for anyone who would benefit from a more relaxed performance environment – including those with an autism spectrum condition or learning disability.

What's different?

  • There will be a designated Access Staff member to welcome you on arrival
  • The lights in the auditorium will be up slightly so that it's not too dark
  • The sound levels of the show will be reduced slightly, to make the performance more accessible to those who have sensory sensitivities
  • The strobe light effect and pyro effect (very loud bang) will be removed from these performances

Access Tours are available prior to relaxed performances, and are a facilitated tour of the space plus introduction to the set, costumes & props used in the show. (Spaces on Access Tour are limited to 20 people and bookable by calling the Guildhall Box Office.)
