Explore the Parrot Pandemonium at Birdland this February Half Term

Explore the Parrot Pandemonium at Birdland this February Half Term

To celebrate the opening of its Pandemonium of Parrots habitat Birdland will be hosting a week-long celebration of the exotic birds during February Half Term (Saturday 15th – Sunday 23rd February).

With no fewer than 16 species now at home in the newly completed parrot enclosure there’s a riot of coloured feathers, impressive beaks and razor-sharp bird brains to admire and learn about.

Armed with the Birdland Explorer Spotter Trail, visitors can venture around the park to solve the ‘psittacines’ puzzle (that’s the scientific name for parrots) during February Half Term.

As part of the new Parrot Pandemonium Birdland is also raising awareness about the conservation and welfare work being done by the World Parrot Trust. A charity that is currently focussing on raising funds and awareness to help support the endangered scarlet macaw.

Birdland Manager Simon Blackwell said: “We’re very pleased to be able to support such a worthy cause here at Birdland and hope our visitors over February Half Term leave us understanding the important work that goes into the conservation of exotic birds.”

“The additional habitats which have been constructed here are already home to a pandemonium of parrots, the collective term for a group of the birds, and they’ve settled in really well,”
he added.

Throughout the half term festivities there will also be daily feeding displays, a chance to embark on a Jurassic Journey and opportunities to get up close with the Birdland residents in the Encounters Area.

With its combination of woodland, riverside and gardens, Birdland features more than 500 birds, ranging from birds of prey and parrots to cassowaries and cranes in a mix of free-flying and aviary displays.

Birdland Park and Gardens, Rissington Rd, Bourton-on-the-Water, Glos, GL54 2BN. Open Daily From 10am (Except Christmas Day).
