'We’re Good To Go’ - Gloucester Cathedral is Open

Gloucester Cathedral

Gloucester Cathedral is now open for daily worship and general visitors.

As part of our commitment to providing a safe environment, we’re delighted to announce we have been awarded Visit Britain’s Industry Standard ‘We’re Good to Go’ status, which means that the we’ve followed government and industry Covid-19 guidelines and have a process in place to maintain cleanliness and physical distancing.

The Cathedral Team will continue to review practices and procedures and update them in accordance with nationally recognised best practice guidelines to ensure the wellbeing of all who visit this place of worship.

Safety measures have been introduced so that people can visit with confidence, including limiting capacity to allow for physical distancing, establishing a one-way system throughout the building and providing hand sanitising stations.

We have shortened our opening times. People can access the building between 10.00am - 5.00pm, Monday to Saturday and 12noon - 5.00pm on Sundays.

Public worship takes place daily with a short service of Holy Communion at 12.30pm Monday - Saturday, Evening Prayer at 4.30pm every day and the Eucharist at 10.15am on Sundays. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The Monk’s Kitchen Café is now open with a delicious selection of cakes, cream teas, sandwiches, drinks and much more to take away. Outdoor seating is available. Please check our website for opening times.

The Cathedral Gift Shop is open and ready to help you find the perfect souvenir of your visit. Please check our website for opening times.

The Very Reverend Stephen Lake, Dean of Gloucester said:

“Your cathedral is open and welcoming, safe to visit and full of space. Do come to enjoy the opportunity to pray and to wonder at a place that has ‘seen it all before’ and so tells of God’s abiding love for us all.”

We encourage you to take a look at the Cathedral website where you can watch a short video before planning your visit and see full details of all the safety measures we have in place to make your visit the best it can be. We look forwards to seeing you soon.
