Summer at WWT Slimbridge

Summer at WWT Slimbridge

Famous Gloucestershire wetland reserve makes a splash with a summer programme for all!

WWT Slimbridge Centre is welcoming visitors this summer to a safe haven of wide open spaces bursting with wetland nature and fun activities including the return of some GIANT LEGO® Brick Animals, outdoor and water play areas.

Visitors can explore the shimmering wetlands which boast wildlife from around the world and make summer a ‘staycation’ to remember, filled with memories of outdoor fun.

WWT wetland centres are back with a splash with ‘We’re Good to Go’ stamps of approval, welcoming visitors this summer to a safe haven of wide open spaces bursting with wetland nature and wildlife from across the globe.

Seven of the GIANT LEGO Brick Animals will be visiting their real life pals this summer, including friendly favourites Walter the Water Vole and Suki the Spoon-Billed Sandpiper, made up of over 50,000 bricks combined – wow! There is also a brand new model for guests to look out for on their next visit.

Younger visitors can head for Welly Boot Land for a splash in the water streams where a change of clothes are highly recommended! Over at the outdoor adventure section of the reserve is an upgraded adventure play area complete with tower and wobbly bridge. Plus, for those that enjoy getting out on the reserve and seeing the Severn Estuary close up the summer walkway is now open via the new installed Estuary Tower hide.

Bags of grain will be available on arrival so animal-lovers can get nose to beak with some of Slimbridge’s favourite birds, for that unique hand-feeding experience that makes visiting Slimbridge so fun. As well as feeding feathered friends, tasty refreshments will be available for visitors at take-away kiosks.

Slimbridge has recently been accredited with the “We’re Good to Go” stamp of approval, an industry standard which has been developed in partnership with Visit England, Tourism Northern Ireland, Visit Scotland and Visit Wales.

Gary Haseley-Nejrup, Centre Manager, said: “We’re delighted to announce that we’ve been accredited with the "We're Good to Go" stamp of approval and all of the activities we have put in place have been designed to ensure everyone’s safety is a priority.  We welcome back some visiting favourites of our larger than life Lego Brick Animals and the return of Welly Boot Land.  We are limiting numbers to the site and everyone must book in advance to ensure a safe and fun day out for everyone over the summer holidays.”

WWT Slimbridge is open from 9.30am to 5pm daily and all visitors, including members and under 4s, must book in advance. To plan a summer wetland experience and book tickets use link below.
