News from St Augustines Farm - New camera obscura

We asked Rob and Elaine Jewell what was going on down on the farm at St Augustines.

"Well, there is our new camera obscura - every farm should have one! Local MP David Drew opened it at the end of July. Its like being inside a camera and you get a fresh view of the countryside. I think they are fascinating and our visitors seem to find it gripping as well. Standing on a small rise beside our ponds you can look at the view, watch the animals in the paddocks around you or spy on your friends without them knowing!

Then there is our new Big Barn giving an extra 4500 square foot under cover. We have put in it traditional games from badminton and ping pong to giant jenga, big dominos and our very own skittle alley.

It was designed to give families something extra to do under cover in bad weather but they seem to enjoy it in sunshine too. Families can play together, the children can play on their own or Dad can teach the kids new games -and show of a bit at the same time!

And we still milk cows - come into the parlour and talk to the cowman as he works and see where your milk comes from. There are the  ever popular tractor and trailer rides and of course a chance to get close to all the animals and even feed many of them."
