New Cider, Perry & Ale Festival coming to Gloucester at the Wharf House

New Cider, Perry & Ale Festival coming to Gloucester at the Wharf House

Get yourself ready for an exciting weekend at the Wharf House at Over near Gloucester. The popular riverside restaurant and visitor centre will be holding their first annual Beer, Cider & Perry Festival during the last weekend in September.

To celebrate the start of autumn, the Wharf House will have a wealth of local beers, ciders and perrys on offer throughout the weekend. Sunday will also incorporate a fun-packed ‘Canal Trust Open Day’ celebrating the 10th Aniversary of the restoration of the Over Canal Basin [the largest all voluntary project in the UK at the time], where a whole lot of entertainment including boat trips along the restored Canal will be on offer.

Add further flavour with local produce and fun and games such as the coconut shy, ‘bash the rat’ and many other traditional festivities and you have all the ingredients for a great family day out. The Open Day will also feature a Vintage Car Rally, including vintage fire engines. With lots of nostalgia on offer it all adds to an event which will appeal to the old and young. There will be special activities for children and face painting too.

Fantastic food will be laid on by the Wharf House Restaurant with a special discounted set 'Tapas on the Terrace' menu for the weekend to give a flavour of the exciting and varied menu – it’s a perfect opportunity to taste a special selection served up by the friendly team of the Wharf House during the weekend. If you can’t wait that long the Wharf House is the ideal place to relax with tapas on the terrace in the sunshine or to sample their extensive menu using local produce.

Other ‘Open Days’ will be held at Llanthony on the edge of the famous Gloucester Docks and up Canal near Newent at Oxenhall.
