Sudeley Castle opens its doors on the family history for new season

Sudeley Castle

Sudeley Castle opens for the 2011 season on 26th March with a brand new exhibition and an exciting new member of the team.

Sudeley Castle is launching a new exhibition for the 2011 season that gives a rare insight into the Dent-Brocklehurst family. The exhibition tells the tale of the family’s pet badger Brock, who lived with them in the late 60s and early 70s. There are touching stories about the characterful Brock growing up in the nursery with Mollie and Henry Dent-Brocklehurst. Illustrations from local artist Katie Morgan will accompany the family’s personal memories and photographs. The exhibition hopes to raise awareness about how we can help to conserve wild badgers, with information provided by The Badger Preservation Society.

Sudeley Castle has also announced a prestigious addition to their team with Sir Roddy Llewellyn joining as Design Consultant for the gardens. Sudeley’s gardens attract visitors from all over the world and is regarded as one of the leading rose gardens in the country. Sir Roddy describes the gardens as ‘ magnificent’ stating that he is, ‘delighted to have been asked’ to become Sudeley’s consultant. Having written seven gardening books, reported as a garden journalist and lectured across the country, Sir Roddy will bring his extensive experience to this role.

A number of events will take place at the Castle including the Winchombe Music Festival in May, lace-making workshops in August and a travelling Souk in November. All information about up and coming events will be available on the Sudeley Castle website at www.sudeleycastle.co.uk
