Discover Cheltenham’s Royal connections

Discover Cheltenham’s Royal connections

With the Royal Wedding of HRH Prince William and Kate Middleton just around the corner, Cheltenham Tourism have organised a special one-off Royal Connections walk of Regency Cheltenham, to get you in the mood, leading up to this special occasion.

On Tuesday 19 April, a guided walk will take place at 11.30am with Mary Moxham, one of Gloucestershire’s knowledgeable registered guides, starting from Cheltenham Tourist Information Centre on the Promenade.
Delve into Cheltenham’s Royal history – from the time King George III came to drink the much acclaimed spa waters to a visit by Princess Victoria, who went on to become Queen, Cheltenham can lay claim to its fair share of Royal connections.

Come and learn more about our historic Regency Spa town… Get off the beaten track, discover Cheltenham’s architectural highlights, the stories behind the buildings and hear about famous connections with the town.  Learn about Cheltenham as it was during its Spa heyday and explore the most attractive parts of the town today, all at a leisurely pace.

Angie Rowlands, Tourist Information Centre Manager, said “This special Royal Connections walk is an exciting addition to our walking tours programme.  We are very happy to support events leading up to the Royal Wedding, tying in with other celebrations in Cheltenham and the surrounding Cotswolds area.”

This walk offers an ideal opportunity for visitors to discover more about the history of Cheltenham and its Royal past.
The Royal Connections Walking Tour departs from outside Cheltenham Tourist Information Centre at 11.30am.  Length of Tour: approximately 1 ½ hours.  Tickets are £4 per person (no discounts available) and can be purchased in advance from:  Cheltenham Tourist Information Centre, 77 Promenade, Cheltenham, GL50 1PJ, or on the day from the guide directly or the Tourist Information Centre.  They can also be purchased online at www.VisitCheltenham.com
