James Hunt Exhibition at the Cotswold Motoring Museum

James Hunt Exhibition at the Cotswold Motoring Museum

The Cotswolds pictureque town of Bourton-on-the-Water welcomes the James Hunt Exhibition at the Cotswold Motoring Museum.

With the roar of the current Formula 1 engines still ringing in our ears and the likes of Button, Hamilton and Vettel filling the sports pages, the Cotswold Motoring Museum invites you to look back to 1979 and the British racing legend James Hunt. The Cotswold Motoring Museum is currently exhibiting the impressive Wolf WR7 Formula 1 Car (1979-1982), the last car ever driven by James Hunt at the Monaco Grand Prix.

Hunt was a notorious racing driver from England who won the Formula One World Championship in 1976, he lead a controversial life before retiring in 1979. The James Hunt exhibition is open until mid December 2011. As well as the Wolf WR7, the exhibition will also contain information about the car’s background and comments from the current owner: CSMA Club member, Andrew Smith. This is a wonderful chance to view a Formula 1 car up close and find out the history behind the turbulent life of the infamous racing driver. There is even a life size image of James Hunt himself!

Michael Tambini, the Museum Curator says: “The Museum is owned by CSMA Club, so I was delighted when out of the blue, one of our members, Andrew Smith, phoned to ask if we would like to display James Hunt’s last Formula 1 car. I have to say I jumped at the chance. Hunt is a British sporting hero and we are thrilled to be able to show this historic vehicle.”

Located in the lovely village of Bourton-on-the-Water, CSMA Club’s Cotswold Motoring Museum is a fascinating journey through the 20th Century and has an intriguing collection of motoring curiosities which date from the invention of the motor car all the way up to the 1970s. The Cotswold Motoring Museum has seven galleries bulging with great cars, quaint caravans, motorcycles, bicycles, scooters, a huge enamel sign collection and an amazing toy collection.

Bourton-on-the-Water is the perfect day out for all the family.  A stunningly beautiful Cotswold Village where you can enjoy an idyllic walk along the River Windrush, stop for a cream tea and scone in one of the many cafes, spend time in the independent gift shops, or visit the award winning family attractions only a few minutes’ walk from the village centre.
