REVIEW: HIGH SOCIETY What a swell show this is!

High Society at The Everyman Theatre

The Venue Cymru presents a classy production of ‘High Society’ that has classic songs by Cole Porter, excellent choreography and bags of energy.

It’s 1938 and wealthy American Tracy Lord is about to marry again when her ex turns up the night before the wedding.  To add to this confusion two journalists arrive to cover the story, one of whom also falls for the high-spirited socialite Miss Lord.

Sophie Bould plays the lead with energy and wit, complimented by her lively, scheming sister, played by Katie Lee and her lecherous, hilarious uncle, played by Teddy Kempner.

The audience is transported to a privileged bygone era by the wonderful costumes, the clever use of the revolving stage and some great set pieces such as the servants tap dancing on the kitchen table to ‘Well, Did you Evah?’ and a cheeky rendition of ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’ by the journalists.

High Society runs until Saturday 27 April.
