Bibury | One of the prettiest villages in England

Bibury is a small Cotswold village situated in the Coln Valley about 6 miles northeast of Cirencester.

Bibury is the quintessential Cotswold village and is full to the brim with honey coloured Cotswold cottages once occupied by the weavers of bygone years.

William Morris, the famous 19th Century textile designer once described Bibury as “the most beautiful village in England”, and to this day it still could be as it is unspoilt and just as charming.

Enjoy a visit to Bibury

The crystal clear River Coln which flows through Bibury has plenty of brown and rainbow trout, of which the latter spawn in the millions at the Bibury Trout Farm. The River Coln in yesteryear also powered Bibury’s historic Arlington Mill, which was used to clean away oils, dirt and other impurities from cloth supplied by the local weavers, many of whom lived in the famous Arlington Row. Dating back to 1380, these iconic Cotswold cottages are now one of the most photographed scenes in the Cotswolds.

Each year on Boxing Day, Bibury holds its annual Duck Race.
