Written by Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown, The Last Five Years is a moving and powerful musical, seamlessly blending the joy of new love with the pain of separation. With an acclaimed score, the show explores the emotional rollercoaster of a five-year marriage between two New Yorkers, asking, “Can a couple, once united by a shared love of creativity, stay together as their lives drift apart?”
The story is told through two parallel perspectives: Jamie’s starts at the beginning, brimming with the excitement of new romance, and progresses chronologically, while Cathy’s story begins at the end, moving in reverse through the sorrow of a relationship unraveling. This innovative structure captures the complexity of love, making The Last Five Years a poignant and unforgettable experience.
