Much ado About Nothing at Painswick Rococo Garden

Pedalling from venue to venue with their set, props, and costumes on the backs of their bikes, the HandleBards are a four-strong troupe bringing environmentally sustainable Shakespeare to venues across the UK.
Join them at Painswick Rococo Garden for a bicycle-powered production of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, delivered in true HandleBards style—full of energy, chaos, and plenty of laughter. The play follows a group of soldiers returning from war to a household in Messina, where new love interests and old rivalries quickly spark. Beatrice, Benedick, Claudio, and Hero’s intertwined love stories are filled with scheming, frivolity, and melodrama in this classic comedy.
This is an outdoor production, so please bring your own chair or blanket to sit on, a picnic to dig into, and dress for the weather!
