February Half Term at Clearwell Caves
Saturday 14 - Sunday 22 February 2026
Clearwell Caves invites visitors to explore the hidden depths beneath the Forest of Dean, descending around 31 metres (100 feet) underground.
Nine caverns feature striking displays and richly coloured ochre-stained rock, offering a rare chance to experience some of Britain’s oldest underground mine workings, dating back more than 4,500 years.
Along the way, visitors can learn how generations of miners worked these caves over the centuries, discovering the tools, techniques and stories behind this remarkable Gloucestershire attraction.
Sensible shoes and a sense of wonder are all that is needed, with Clearwell Caves providing the rest for an unforgettable day out in the Forest of Dean.
Above ground, The Lamproom Café offers sandwiches, cakes, leaf teas and favourite coffees, making a perfect finish to the visit.
For those seeking a deeper challenge, deep-level caving events led by an experienced guide run on 14 February 2026, 19 February 2026 and 22 February 2026, with booking via the link below.
