The Most Perilous Comedie of Elizabeth I at Berkeley Castle

Sunday 31 August - Monday 1 September 2025

The Three Inch Fools return with a side-splitting new open-air production — a Tudor musical comedie packed with laughs, chaos and courtly intrigue.

Set in the golden age of Elizabeth I, this original production sees Good Queen Bess herself stepping into the spotlight in a show filled with regicidal rivalries, backstage betrayals, and ill-prepared playwrights. With a script that leaves much to be desired and egos clashing at every turn, the result is a rollicking, riotous evening of largely historical, totally hysterical theatre.

Marking their 10th anniversary, The Three Inch Fools promise an unforgettable theatrical romp under the open sky. Audience members are encouraged to bring their own cushions and camping chairs, dress for the weather, and come torch-in-hand, as the performance continues rain or shine.

Please note: The show takes place on the Lower Lawn, accessed via steps or a steep slope. Limited lighting after dark.
