Backstage in the Gage at the Dean Heritage Centre
Wednesday 21 May 2025
Join a relaxed and engaging session in the Gage Collections Room, where a member of the Dean Heritage Centre collections team will offer a short talk on Littledean Camp—a fascinating site with deep historic roots.
Discover the story of this Norman castle, constructed in the late 11th or early 12th century and referred to as ‘the old castle of Dene’ by the mid-1100s. Now a Scheduled Ancient Monument, Littledean Camp was generously bequeathed to the Dean Heritage Museum Trust in 1987 by Dr Cyril Hart.
This informal talk invites questions and conversation, offering a unique opportunity to learn more about this important piece of Forest of Dean history from objects held in the museum's collection.
